A tiny kobold paladin (Haru, enlarged veiny skull) stands at the edge of a vast glowing vat and flares his Necrotic Shroud: his eyes turn into pools of darkness and dramatic shadowy wings burst from his back, with a cartoon “FWOOSH” effect. Towering above him, a building-sized Elder Brain (Nebduron) in bioluminescent green-purple mucus gives him a flat, deeply unimpressed look, one eyelid half-lowered, like a bored office manager. Behind Haru, a glowing aasimar sorcerer (Sunder) gives a big thumbs-up. Rows of robed mind flayers line the walls, craning their tentacled heads to watch.

The glowing aasimar sorcerer (Sunder) is forced to his knees by purple psychic tendrils looping down from a giant floating brain (Nebduron), his eyes swirling with hypnotic cartoon spirals. Beside him, the tiny kobold paladin (Haru, enlarged veiny skull) jumps up and slaps a giant glowing “SHHH!” zipper-mouth spell over Sunder’s mouth with one clawed hand while casually flicking a sparkling musical note of bardic inspiration over his shoulder with the other. The Elder Brain looks surprised. Bioluminescent alien chamber, bold outlines.

Four pompous mind flayers stand in a semicircle, each firing a purple psychic shockwave ring from its tentacles at the same target: the tiny kobold paladin (Haru). Haru is a crispy cartoon silhouette with smoke rising, his enlarged skull steaming like a kettle, eyes turned to X’s, a floating “98” damage number overhead like a pinball score. In the corner, a translucent spectral dragon (Sunder’s Draconic Spirit) has just breathed on the mind flayers, whose robes are scorched. The glowing aasimar (Sunder) winces in the background. Chaotic, colorful, slapstick.

The glowing aasimar sorcerer (Sunder) teleports in a puff of silver mist right in front of one wide-eyed, curious mind flayer. He throws his arms wide like a street preacher, radiant light blazing from his eyes, a golden sun symbol glowing behind his head. The mind flayer’s tentacles reach toward Sunder’s head with cartoon eagerness, a napkin tucked into its robe collar like a diner at a fancy restaurant. In the background, the tiny kobold (Haru, enlarged veiny skull) facepalms. No gore: the moment is played as absurd devotion and comedic suspense.

Inside the bioluminescent mind flayer hive chamber, a wide-eyed mind flayer clamps its whole tentacled face down on top of the glowing aasimar sorcerer’s head (Sunder) in one enormous cartoon CHOMP. A big comic-book “CHOMP!” sound effect bursts behind them, and golden light sprays out from between the tentacles like a flashlight swallowed by a jellyfish. Sunder’s arms are still flung wide in ecstatic devotion and his feet dangle off the ground, completely serene about the whole thing. The only witness is the tiny kobold paladin (Haru, enlarged veiny skull), standing a few feet away in the foreground. His jaw is on the floor, his eyes bug out of his head, and his rapier droops in one hand. No other party members are present. No gore: pure slapstick. Saturday morning cartoon, bold outlines, glowing greens and purples with a burst of gold.

Wide shot of the mind flayer hive chamber. At the center, one mind flayer glows gold and convulses, and from its head, glowing golden squiggly “thought” lines jump from mind flayer to mind flayer like a chain of lightning. Each one it touches spasms comically, tentacles going stiff, eyes becoming spirals. The chain leads up to the giant Elder Brain (Nebduron), which is frantically yanking psychic cables out of itself like someone unplugging a burning power strip, sweat drops flying, eyes huge with panic. The tiny kobold paladin (Haru, enlarged veiny skull) stands in the middle of the chaos holding up a glowing “Sanctuary” shield bubble around the golden mind flayer.

The tiny kobold paladin (Haru, enlarged veiny skull) is waist-deep in glowing green mucus and slashes his rapier through a jiggly membrane with a golden holy “SMITE!” flash. The enormous Elder Brain (Nebduron) looms over him with tearful, pleading cartoon eyes and a speech bubble reading “I’LL GIVE YOU ANYTHING!” Haru looks up with a completely deadpan expression. Tentacles flail around the vat. Bright bioluminescent greens and purples, radiant gold from the smite.

An alien canyon under a swirling green-purple radiation storm. Teeth, from molars to fangs, pour from the sky like hailstones, bouncing everywhere with cartoon “tink tink” sound effects. A large, gentle firbolg druid (Toven) lies face-down hugging the ground with his whole body and a look of grave concern, like he’s listening to the earth’s heartbeat. Above him, a dragonborn with backward bird-legs and cracked bloodshot eyes (Kiet) and an enormous scarred warrior with a glowing red-stone gauntlet (Gemnar) crouch on a flying carpet, holding it over their heads like an umbrella as teeth ping off it. Animals stampede past in the background.

Inside a dark cave mouth, a massive mutated troll with five or six mismatched heads looms out of the shadows, every head a different sad or hungry expression, drool included. In front of the party, a dragonborn (Kiet, bird-legs, bloodshot eyes) breathes a wall of cartoon fire across the cave floor, and the troll skids to a stop with all its heads recoiling. An enormous scarred warrior (Gemnar, glaive, red-stone gauntlet) steps forward through the flames, towering nearly eye-to-eye with the troll, one fist pressed to his chest like a noble knight lecturing a fallen brother about honor. Several of the troll’s heads start tearing up. Off to the side, a large, gentle firbolg druid (Toven) holds out his hands as glowing entangling vines wrap uselessly around the troll’s ankles. Dramatic cave lighting, orange fire against deep purple.

A large, gentle firbolg druid (Toven) stands on a rocky outcrop with his arms raised, and the radiation storm spirals and parts around him like a dome. His robes and hair whip upward and his eyes glow with nature magic. From the clouds, giant cartoon lightning bolts and a torrent of teeth rain down on the many-headed troll, which howls triumphantly into the storm with every head. As it’s hit, smaller mini-trolls pop off it like popcorn, bouncing away with tiny confused faces. Epic but funny, with electric blues and yellows against a green-purple sky.

A peaceful, glowing scene. The glowing aasimar sorcerer (Sunder), now translucent and spectral, walks down a path of golden light toward a warm radiant being woven from threads of sunlight (the Sunweaver), who holds out an open hand in welcome. Sunder glances back over his shoulder with a serene, content smile and a small wave. Far behind and below, in a tiny dark vignette, the tiny kobold paladin (Haru, enlarged veiny skull) is passed out in a pool of green mucus under the collapsed, dizzy-eyed Elder Brain, which has little cartoon stars circling it. Warm golds and soft whites contrast with the dark greens below. Bittersweet but still a Saturday morning cartoon.
