Quick photos and links showing our experience adding a safety belt to a Captain’s Chair for kiddos on the smaller side.
Materials:
- Urban Arrow Seatbelt Harness Fidlock Buckle
- 1.5″ Black Webbing
- 3× M6 x 12mm 20Pcs Flat Head Hex Socket Cap Screws Bolts
- 6× M6 Stainless Flat Washers
- 3× M6 Black Acorn Cap Nuts or M6-1.0mm Black Zinc Plated Nylon Lock Nuts
- Tern Captain’s Chair
Instructions:
- Attach the captain’s chair to the HSD/GSD following the normal instructions
- Wrap the top ends of the shoulder straps around the bars over the back end of the captain’s chair. Drill holes in the webbing where the existing hole overlaps. Stick a bolt, two washers, and nut through to secure each side. I criss-crossed the two straps so they wouldn’t come undone over the sides.
- Cut a strip of the extra webbing about 2′ long and wrap it around the middle of the captain’s chair base.
- Line up the webbing strap with the existing base strap of the harness, folding the base strap over each side. You’ll end up with 4 holes (harness / new webbing belt / new webbing belt / harness). Drill three new holes and stick a bolt with washers through it all.
- Tighten everything and you’re done!
