Replacing the Woom 4 twist shifter with a trigger shifter

Quick walkthrough because I couldn’t find details on this anywhere else! The Woom 4 twist shifter was never easy to use and when the indicator broke and Woom wouldn’t fix it, I started to look for replacement options. I found this SRAM 8 speed trigger shifter on Amazon (SRAM X4 Trigger Shifter – Rear Only, 8-Speed, Includes 2200mm Shift Cable, Black)

Because the existing twist shifter takes up some of the handlebar, you’ll need to replace the grips as well. These are about the same size and come in fun colors: (Amazon) (Ergon Ga3)

Once you have the parts, you just need a few hex keys. Put the bike in 8th gear and ideally off the ground.

Remove the cable from the derailleur with a 5mm and pull the cable through all of the attachment points.

Loosen the old handlebar grip and twist grip shifter with a 2mm and take them both off. Thread the new cable through the same points, tighten everything back up, and tighten the cable to the rear derailleur under tension. You should be all set!
